This Is Crazy!

October 28, 2007

I can't remember how I found this video. When I surf the internet, I just sort of meander from site to site in a pseudo-neurotic daze and if I find something good, I bookmark it so I can find it again later. (This would explain why I have over 300 bookmarks.) I haven't decided if I can categorize this as "good" per se, but in honor of Halloween, I am sharing it with you. I give you... Michael Jackson's "Thriller"... done with Legos. Trust me, you'll want to watch this.... [youtube … [Read more...] about This Is Crazy!

Stunned

October 5, 2007

Earlier this week I created my latest mind movie, after watching the DVD "The Secret."  In doing this I am continuing my explorations into the Law of Attraction.  One of the biggest eye-openers in that DVD was the idea that if you constantly focus on something negative--even if your focus is REMOVING that negative thing--you will continue to draw it to yourself.  The speakers on the DVD postulated that anti-war protesters, although their intentions are good, inadvertently continue to attract war … [Read more...] about Stunned

Professionally Outraged

October 4, 2007

It's the nightmare of every teacher who teaches in the arts: getting fired over artistic work you pursue outside of the classroom. An art teacher in Virginia was fired recently for his extracurricular artistic endeavors. Granted, he painted with his *ass*. However, I found his work to be tasteful and interesting. Furthermore, he took sufficient steps to keep his artwork separate from his teaching, using a pseudonym instead of his real name, and refraining from discussing it in his class. … [Read more...] about Professionally Outraged

More Harm Than Good?

September 29, 2007

I'm going to start this post by saying I love my home, my planet, and I am not out to intentionally destroy the thing. That would be stupid. But equally stupid is this rush to create "green" products in a frantic dash to "Save The World". Yes, we should take care of our home and try to keep it clean. But mankind spent centuries being ignorant of the ways of the earth, and the planet is still spinning along. I could go off on an entire tirade about perceptions of global "warming"--as if the … [Read more...] about More Harm Than Good?

Peace, Quiet, Gratitude

September 21, 2007

Dear Lord, thank You for this evening of peace and quiet; for this time to be still and reflect on my life. Thank You for my health and my home, for my family and my friends. Thank You for my job, my co-workers, and my students. Yes, even the high schoolers... actually, especially them. Thank You for silly things like MySpace and Facebook, where I can pour out all the drivel that my mind creates and it makes me feel better, and where silly little notes like birthday wishes from friends and … [Read more...] about Peace, Quiet, Gratitude

Reconciliation

September 16, 2007

This week's sermon at my church was about transformation of the spirit; the example given was of Ebeneezer Scrooge and his reformation from a miserly life to one of generosity. The idea, of course, was that we should continually seek reconciliation to God, and away from the sins we commit in life. Which got me to wondering.... Just why does God want to reconcile us to Himself, anyway? There certainly can't be much in it for Him. Sure, He loves us. He created us. But I have loved people … [Read more...] about Reconciliation
