Thanks to my "second mom" who sent me this story in an email. It really resonated with me, and will hopefully help on the days when I am in the throes of my self-dubbed "martyr complex" - hahaha! The Invisible Mom It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I’m on the phone and ask to be taken to the store. Inside I’m thinking, "Can’t you see I’m on the phone?" Obviously not; no one can see if I’m on the phone, or … [Read more...] about The Invisible Mom

Mental Clutter
I am currently very annoyed at myself. I get really good ideas for blogs at very inconvenient times and/or places, give myself firm mental notes to remember these thoughts for later.... and then forget them. I suppose today I could blame Daylight Savings Time and the loss of an hour of sleep, but I think we both know that's not a valid and complete explanation. Oh well, here goes nothing. Reasons and Fate
If you live in Illinois like I do, then you have no doubt heard about the shooting at Northern Illinois University last week. I wish I understood what went through the minds of these killers as they entered schools armed to the teeth and prepared to kill. Joseph
The gospel for yesterday was Joseph's encounter with an angel of the Lord, after hearing that his betrothed Mary was with child. At that moment, Joseph held the life of Jesus in his hands. I had a similar revelation last year when I remembered the words "Gabriel waited." This time I was asked to consider Joseph's role in the birth of Christ. According to Jewish law, Joseph was betrayed and humiliated, and had it in his power to have Mary stoned to death. No Mary, no child, no Savior. But … [Read more...] about Joseph
