Just A Peek, For Fun!

November 5, 2014 By lisa

I have kind of a love/hate relationship with movie musicals. Generally, I LOVE them. But if they're done poorly, it's utterly painful to sit through. (Just as an example, you can go back and check out my review of Les Misérables, which I thought was amazing--with one exception.) Next month comes Hollywood's latest offering, Sondheim's Into the Woods. It boasts a HUGE cast of big names, and hopefully all of them will do their roles well. I do tend to judge actors' singing, although they get big … [Read more...] about Just A Peek, For Fun!

Is It Time to Ask for More from Animation?

January 19, 2014 By lisa

This afternoon I finally bit the bullet and went out to the theater to see Disney's latest animated film, Frozen. [probably spoilers in here somewhere, for those of you who don't know the story of Les Mis -- but why don't you??] I'd like to preface my review by … [Read more...] about The Cinematic Wonder that is Les Misérables

Intro to Bollywood!

February 3, 2012 By lisa

Well, readers, I have just returned home from my first taste of Bollywood, courtesy of a pre-screening of Agneepath at C-U's Art Theater. I have been wanting to see what the fuss was all about, and I actually had a day I could set aside (almost literally) to soak it all in. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IV0Cc1W_DDM] For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the term Bollywood, much less what it means, here's a bit of clarification. The concept is simple: Bombay, India's version of … [Read more...] about Intro to Bollywood!
