I must begin by saying how impressed I am that a movie that languished, fully completed, on the proverbial shelf for three years still managed to make it to the big screen without leaking the plot. I know Joss Whedon has an extremely strong fan base, and they actually listened when he said, "please don't." (Unlike the idiot reviewer at New York's Village Voice, who gave away the ENDING OF THE MOVIE in the very first sentence of his so-called review. No, I'm not kidding. No, I will not provide a … [Read more...] about In Which I Attempt to Not Spoil Joss Whedon’s Cabin in the Woods
Finding Neverland…Again
Last night I had the privilege of rediscovering an old favorite of mine, and afterwards came to my blog, found that I had somehow never written about this beautiful film, and decided today to remedy this oversight. On the surface, Finding Neverland could have played out as any romantic drama, period or otherwise. There's the somewhat typical couple whose relationship is in trouble, a new love interest causing another somewhat typical love triangle, and various other dramatic plot points. … [Read more...] about Finding Neverland…Again

Trailer included! … [Read more...] about Film Annex: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Vampire?

Let’s Talk About John Carter
Not since Hearts in Atlantis have I been so motivated to read a book after watching its film adaptation. In the case of Hearts in Atlantis (read my full review here), I had read the story prior to seeing the film, and was so taken aback by the ending that I stopped the video before credits had even begun to roll, ran straight to the book, and re-read the ending. I was certain my memory was playing tricks on me, so different was the film's ending from the book's. But no, the film had been … [Read more...] about Let’s Talk About John Carter
