Musings and Ramblings
So I was sitting here thinking about a story I heard this weekend, about a 19-year-old soldier being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Posthumously. He was serving in Iraq, and died when he threw himself onto a live grenade in order to save his fellow soldiers. I couldn't help it. For some reason hearing about this particular soldier really struck a chord with me. We were praying for him in church last night. I nearly burst into tears. And I couldn't figure out why - it's not like I … [Read more...] about Musings and Ramblings
Scientific Proof of the Existence of Auras?
I don’t know what caused me to stumble onto this really interesting article online today, but I’m really glad I did. I have always been fascinated by the realm of the supeernatural, even as I have been largely cynical and skeptical about the validity of the existence of such things. I have a friend who tells me he can physically see a person’s aura, and while I think that’s extremely cool, I have a hard time believing it to be possible since I haven’t seen it for myself. Where He Goes, We Must Follow
I have thought a lot lately about why we as Christians feel such guilt over the crucifixion of Christ. Yes, His life was a sacrificial one. Yes, He suffered greatly. But to what end, truly? Did He die merely because we are sinners? Was His death simply a tool to guilt us into behaving better? Or was there more to the path He took through His death and subsequent resurrection? I believe that Jesus came to the world to show us the way to truly follow Him. We get so caught up in daily life … [Read more...] about Where He Goes, We Must Follow
Watch With Me One Hour
Right now, someone in my church is praying in a little chapel filled with flowers and holding the blessed Sacrament during its absence from our sanctuary. In another hour it will be someone else, in another hour yet another, and on and on. It has been this way since last night’s service when the altar was stripped and the Sacrament removed, and will continue through today until this evening’s service. I have spent an hour there myself already, just sitting in that total silence, reading and … [Read more...] about Watch With Me One Hour
The Invisible Mom
Thanks to my "second mom" who sent me this story in an email. It really resonated with me, and will hopefully help on the days when I am in the throes of my self-dubbed "martyr complex" - hahaha! The Invisible Mom It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I’m on the phone and ask to be taken to the store. Inside I’m thinking, "Can’t you see I’m on the phone?" Obviously not; no one can see if I’m on the phone, or … [Read more...] about The Invisible Mom
