Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King My rating: 4 of 5 stars Can't help but enjoy S. King's writings. For the first time, though, I have been made to feel uncomfortable, uneasy, in a completely unique way. These stories were dark in a different way than King's usual writings--more personal, and therefore more visceral. Do read, but be aware, when the title says "Full Dark", it really is fully and completely dark. View all my reviews … [Read more...] about My Review of Stephen King’s FULL DARK, NO STARS

A New Era Awaits!
In celebration of surviving the "impending apocalypse", I have decided to kick off this sparkly new era by returning to my blog! Hooray! Actually, this is less of an old blog and more of a newly-remodeled blog. Over the past few years, I've written out my thoughts about various subjects through Blogger.com, MySpace (I know, I know), and now here on my WordPress blog. A few weeks ago I decided to gather all of my old ramblings, cut the ramblings that made the least sense, and compile the rest … [Read more...] about A New Era Awaits!
Don’t Worry, 2011, We Still Love Movies
Cinema Blend recently reported that movie attendance was down in 2011, presumably causing even more waves of panic in certain circles which concern themselves about the Future Of Movies. Today Cinema Blend re-posted an article by the venerable Roger Ebert, who gave his two cents as to why he thinks people are avoiding the theaters. You can certainly guess some of the components of his reply: high prices for tickets and concessions (especially concessions), fewer/different choices in films, and … [Read more...] about Don’t Worry, 2011, We Still Love Movies
Checking in
Wow, it's been a while since I added any decent content to this blog! Sorry about that. I do appreciate that this site is still getting visitors in my absence though, so thanks very much to everybody who's checking in. Hope you've not gotten too impatient for a new post. I have to admit, the impetus of my prolonged absence was due to switching from movies to television. I am an avid fan of LOST, and the month of May was filled with many hours devoted to the end of this amazing series. I … [Read more...] about Checking in
A 2-D Rant Against a 3-D Dilemma
In a discussion with my mother-in-law about How To Train Your Dragon, she mentioned to me an article she had read about Dreamworks' tactics to "encourage" theaters to make room for the 3-D version of their film: 'Dragon' versus 'Titans' versus 'Alice' in fight over 3-D screens Basically it comes down to this: if theaters with limited 3-D screens (usually just one) choose to keep Alice playing on those screens instead of replacing it with the 3-D version of Dragon, Dreamworks may withhold the … [Read more...] about A 2-D Rant Against a 3-D Dilemma
Gimme Something to Believe In
I was driving around town tonight listening to talk radio, which honestly, I need to stop doing. Yes, I want to be informed about politics. Yes, I need to understand both sides of the "story" whatever it happens to be. But lately - actually for months - talk radio has done nothing but piss me off. I either get caught up in somebody's rant about how easily politicians and media machines can pull the wool over the eyes of general citizenry, or I just hear more gloom and doom about the state of the … [Read more...] about Gimme Something to Believe In
